Daisy Selena Lowe Beck's Obituary
Daisy Selena Lowe Beck, age 80, of Covington, departed her earthly body on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. She was born on September 17, 1943, in Miami, Florida, to Olive Thelma Mayer Lowe and Francis Daniel Lowe. She was the sister of Susan McKinney and the late Evelyn Bates.
Daisy is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Henry Frederick Beck; children, Erik Francis Beck (Shelley), Amy Susan Beck Miller (Jonathan), and Alexander Frederick Beck; grandchildren, Shepherd Henry Beck, Zachary Quinn Miller, Amanda Daisy Miller, and Vivian Dixie Beck; and many extended family members and friends.
Daisy’s formative years were spent in Jacksonville, Florida, where she graduated from Landon High School before attending Florida State University and majoring in English and Library Science. After graduating from college, she worked in the Jacksonville Public School System as a school librarian. Daisy met her husband Henry Frederick Beck during the summer of 1967. Henry was a Naval Officer on an aircraft carrier home ported in Mayport, Florida. Daisy and Henry married in New Orleans on August 31, 1968.
Daisy was an avid reader and lover of words. She had an artistic eye and was often doodling, drawing, or writing delightful notes to her loved ones. In middle life, she was quite active in her church community. She led the women’s bible study for many years at Faith and Covington Presbyterian Churches, where she was beloved and appreciated by her family in Christ.
Daisy loved to laugh and enjoyed discussing the complexities of life. She lit up every room with her smile to the very end. She will be missed by many.
The family thanks Egan Hospice, especially Social Worker Simone and Nurse Misty, who showed true love in taking care of Daisy in her final months. Also, many thanks to Roxanne for her conversations and help during these past months.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Faith Presbyterian Church, 16330 Highway 1085, Covington, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, 2280 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana.
