Cynthia Cathcart Ballas' Obituary
Cynthia Cathcart Ballas was born on January 2, 1946 and passed away on November 13, 2024 at the age of 78 from a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Cindy was born in New Orleans to the late Bernard Michell Cathcart (B.M) and Myrtle Jourdan Cathcart (Sue). She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Francis Ballas.
She is survived by her children; Richard Blaine Ballas (Liz) and Kelley Ballas Armstrong (Jim), and her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Nicholas (Cole) Bernard Ballas (Caci), Jenna Nicole Armstrong, Beau Richard Armstrong, and the late Jourdan Elizabeth Armstrong. She is also survived by her step grandchildren, Jeffrey Brian Montalbano II and Matthew Ryan Montalbano (Hillary); a great-grandchild, Frederic Van Ballas, and step great-grandchildren, Nicholas Austin Montalbano, Nathan Alexander Montalbano, Abigail Elizabeth Montalbano, Dahlia Elizabeth Montalbano, and Matthew Ryan Montalbano Jr. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends.
Cindy graduated from East Jefferson High School in 1963 and continued on to secretarial school. She worked for St. Tammany Parish School Board and later became a bookkeeper at Tchefuncte Middle School. She loved shopping, dancing, traveling, and spending time with her family and close friends. Cindy always mentioned that some of her best memories were from time spent in Pilottown and Grand Isle. She always loved spending time with family on their annual beach vacations and holiday parties too. Her goal of being a good wife and mother was exceeded beyond measure. Cindy had a kind soul and a loving nature that made everyone feel welcomed and loved.
The Ballas family expresses their deepest gratitude for the excellent care provided by the staff at Avanti Senior Living and Passages Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Ballas may be made to Alzheimer’s Research & Prevention Foundation.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial services at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM with visitation on Friday beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
