Crescentia "Chris" Roberts' Obituary
Crescentia “Chris” Roberts passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 11, 2017. A resident of Covington, La. since 1969, she was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 5, 1929 to Leonie Harz Rousseau and Cyril O. Rousseau. She graduated from Eleanor McMain High School in 1947 and was married to Arthur “Leon” Roberts on September 27, 1950.
Chris and her late husband, Leon, were married for 65 years and together they owned and operated Roberts Stables in Covington, Louisiana for over 45 years where they raised and trained American Saddlebred Horses. Chris also operated a summer riding camp, Camp Bittercreek, where may children learned to care for and ride horses.
The mother of Connie Roberts Blue, and the late Cynthia Roberts Koch, she is survived by two grandchildren, Kendall Roberts Blue and Addie Koch Marriot, and two great grandchildren, Faith Jolie and Eli Joel Marriott.
Chris Roberts was the founding president of the Louisiana American Saddlebred Horse Association, a lifetime member of the American Saddlebred Museum, and past member of the American Saddlebred Horse Association.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21 Avenue, Covington, Louisiana st 70433. Visitation on December 5 will begin at 5:30. Interment of her ashes will take place privately at a later date.
