Cora Lee Stewart Sanders' Obituary
Cora Lee Stewart Sanders age 97 of Covington, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, afternoon, October 26, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 10, 1924 to Stanley Stewart and Cora Stone Stewart.
She is survived by her loving children John W. Sanders Jr. (Connie), and Cathy Sanders Cardinale (Melvin), proud grandmother of Troy, Amy, Darlene, Lori, Lisa, Jenny, Cherie, and Gary Jr., and devoted and proud great grandmother to Leah, Alexis, Joshua, Kara, Katie, Holly, Reed, Ava, Emma, Zack, Zoe, Cora, Ellen, Louisa, and Brantley and great-great grandchildren Maya, and Jackson.
Cora Lee is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years John W. Sanders Sr., son Gary J. Sanders, parents Stanley and Cora Stewart, and brother Stanley Stewart Jr., and sisters Margaret Livaudais, Betty Didier, and Elise Roberts.
A native of River Ridge, Louisiana, longtime resident of Covington for 40 wonderful years, Cora Lee graduated from Kenner Junior High School. She married the love of her life John W. Sanders in 1948. She devoted her entire life as a wife and mother of 3; she found her true calling as a stay at home mother. She cherished her time with her adoring grandchildren.
Cora Lee was a devoted Catholic and a member to St. Benedict Catholic Church. She was a unique, loving, kind, humble, and caring, person. Her true passion was spending time with her loving family. She was well respected and liked by all, and who will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Due to COVID-19, social distancing is encouraged and masks are required to attend services.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation at 9:30AM on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana 70433, The Funeral Mass to follow visitation at 11:00AM, in E. J. Fielding Chapel. Interment will follow the service at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, Covington, Louisiana.
