Consuelo "Connie" Spittler's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that the family of Consuelo “Connie” Spittler announces her peaceful passing on August 21, 2021, at the age of 85 years. Connie was born in Guatemala on October 31, 1935, to Mercedes Alverado Cano. She came to the United States at the age of 18 and became a naturalized citizen in 1965.
Connie raised her son, Mike Lopez (Terri), and daughter, Elizabeth Lopez Vail (Michael), in Gretna, by herself, until she met the love of her life, the late Herb Spittler. Herb and Connie were married in 1993 and later welcomed their grandchildren, James Lopez, Austin Vail, and Ethan Vail. Connie also gained a new daughter, Elaine Spittler.
Connie was always the life of the party, laughing and joking with friends and family, and her greatest joy was being a grandmother. She moved to Mandeville in 2007 with her daughter, where she became a parishioner at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. She attended Mass daily, could be found walking in local retail stores and groceries and would end the outings with a stop at her favorite restaurant, Mandina’s. Connie never met a stranger and made many loving friendships on the Northshore.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1501 W. Causeway Approach in Mandeville, LA on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 12:00 PM with Visitation on Saturday beginning at 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will be private at a later date.
E. J. Fielding Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. The family invites you to share thoughts, fond memories, and condolences online at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home Guest Book at www.ejfieldingfh.com.
