Tom was a Legend a Hero and a good Friend!
Bob & I want to extend our sympathy to the family of Tom's. We have known Tom since 1975 and shared many sailing stories with him. Sincerely ,Mary & Bob
Tom and Earl Shaw taught a navigation course at the yacht club many years ago. I'm glad I paid attention as several years later, I was lost on the water at night; the info I learned from Tom literally saved my life. He was a true gentleman, an imposing figure, always a smile on his face, with kind words for everyone. I loved his slight southern drawl and the almost always present cigar!
Always an interesting conversation with Tom; met him when I bot my first documented vessel and saw him when he kept a boat at Mariners Village and of course when he was at the PYC. He and his generation will be missed.
Will always remember the good times we had with Tom. Met him in 1975 at PYC. We shared some good stories about the Corps and the Navy.
Tom was my first customer at The Yacht Works back in 1981. He wanted to know if we had any perry-nuts? Through the years, he still kidded me about my reaction. Tom was always the consummate gentleman, knowledgable, and had a great sense of humor. We will miss him.

Jim & Becky, We are so sorry for your loss. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.

Tom was my cousin (his father and mine were brothers) but I never met Tom until I came to Madisonville, coincidentially the same year Tom moved to Mandeville. His father and mine are buried in the Stockwell plot in Magnolia Cemetery in Baton Rouge. While I've talked to Tom several times I wish I had spent more time with him to learn about our families. My condolences to Mark and Betty and the rest of the family.
