Clyde Rodney Keating passed away after a long battle with cancer on Sunday, March 4, 2018 surrounded by family at his home in Covington, LA. He was born on June 19, 1944 in Madisonville, LA to the late Alvin Avie Keating and Louis Read Obituary
I'm so sad to hear of this. We thought we had some really special Coaches at FJH back in the day. The girls Coach was "BONNIE" Prickett, and the boys Coach was "CLYDE" Keating. We definitely got some great ball players from them. He was a teacher when teachers taught MORE than 'common core' and what was in those books. I hate that these cancers exist; and that his battle was long in fighting it. Although it had been years, I've never forgotten your influence on all of us; and never will. Rest in PEACE now Coach!
Clyde was one of the nicest people I had the privilege of knowing. He always supported me in my years at FUMC and at LRS. He always had a smile that brightened my days.
My favorite memory as a kid in his class...when he would tell us stories about his wife getting upset and laying out his clothes mismatched (being colorblind) lol also it always stuck with me That he would refer to himself in the 3rd person. I found it odd then but cool later..and find myself doing it now occasionally in my classes.
As an adult, the last story was my favorite...learning how to make "the best banana puddin"
The times we all had at Lee Road together are treasures of a life time. Later he taught my daughter at Folsom Jr. High. He also gave them a 9 weeks class on taxidermy which we still have to this day. He will be in our hearts forever.

Ms. Carol, I was so sorry to hear of Mr. Clydes passing. What a kind, brave man. I remember when I worked at the cancer center and would bring fresh from the garden produce for us.
The last time I saw him, he was in a wheelchair shopping cart. That was in January and we talked about our faith in God and heaven. We know where he is, don't we?

Ms Carol we are so sorry about Mr Clyde he will be deeply missed. We will always be greatful for all the time and dogs he sent us. Especially our Dallas dog. Y'all will be in our thoughts and prayers through this sad times. Love y'all Trish and Calvin
