Cliffie Shroyer Anderson's Obituary
Cliffie Shroyer Anderson, 70, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026, in Covington, Louisiana. Funeral services will be held at Assumption Catholic Church in Natchez, MS on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery.
Cliffie lived in Houston, Texas and Lockport, Illinois before settling in Natchez, Mississippi with her parents, Roy and Audrey Merritt. After graduating from South Natchez High School in 1973, Cliffie earned her degree from Mississippi State University. She married Conrad Anderson Jr. of Natchez in 1976 and the couple lived briefly in the New Orleans, Louisiana area before returning to Natchez in 1981.
Over the next four decades, Cliffie built a successful career in the banking industry, beginning at Deposit Guaranty National Bank and then Britton & Koontz Bank. She later joined First National Bankers Bank in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she served as a bank compliance auditor until retiring in 2022.
In her years in Natchez, she was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. And she could always be found at Cathedral Catholic School sporting events and other activities, even long after the graduation of her two boys, Conrad and Nick.
After moving to Covington in 2019, Cliffie built a cherished circle of neighborhood friends with whom she enjoyed book clubs and Pokeno. And with no children to chase around, she took to cocker spaniels instead, including Beau and Bella (who preceded her), and most recently her beloved Cooper. Cliffie valued family above all else, and she treasured every moment spent with her children, her grandchildren, and her extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins “up north.”
Cliffie is preceded in death by her father, Roy C. Merritt; and her mother, Audrey L. Merritt.
She is survived by her husband, Conrad Anderson Jr., of Covington, Louisiana; her sons, Conrad (Alex) Anderson IV of Birmingham, Alabama, and Nick (Casey) Anderson of Madison, Mississippi; and her grandchildren, Lewis, Preston, and Miller Anderson of Birmingham, Alabama, and Olivia and Sophie Anderson of Madison, Mississippi. She is also survived by her stepbrother, Bucky Merritt of Vidalia, Louisiana; her stepsister, Alicia (Tim) Yielding of Vidalia, Louisiana; and a host of extended family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Conrad Anderson IV, Nick Anderson, David Gaude, Doug McAllister, Mike Shroyer and Bill Stanford.
