Claudia Lynne Pittman's Obituary
Claudia Lynne Pittman, age 80, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026. She was born on March 22, 1946, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
She is survived by her children, Danna Collins, Jessica Zalot, and Elizabeth Zalot; son-in-law, Patrick Collins; grandchildren, Matthew DeCossas, Jack Collins, Emily Canales, and Catherine DeCossas; siblings, Drema “Cissy” Nail and Claude “Rusty” Pittman III; and many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her best friend and the father of her children, Edward F. Zalot; her parents, Claude Pittman Jr. and Ethel Fink Pittman; and a grandson, Robert “Bobby” Collins.
Lynne was raised in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and attended high school in Rainelle, West Virginia. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Southern University of New Orleans. She was a very gifted Social Worker who helped countless people throughout her career.
Affectionately known as “Big Mama,” Lynne never met a stranger. She was open-minded, accepting, and welcoming to people from all walks of life. She was a force of nature—fierce, loving, and unforgettable. Whether family, friend, or someone she had just met, Lynne had a way of making people feel like they belonged. The world feels a little less bright without her in it, and her absence will be felt deeply by the many people whose lives she touched with her love, laughter, and unwavering presence.
In accordance with her wishes, all memorial services will be held privately.
