Miss Shirley- I just wanted to tell you how sad I am to hear of Mr. Charles passing. I wish I could have been there with you all during this time. When I think of him and your family it takes me back to a time in my life that was not easy. I always knew that at your house I would be welcomed with open arms. Mr. Charles' quiet strength helped to fill the void that losing my father created. I know these last couple of years have been tough. Mr. Charles is in great shape now having been welcomed home with the same love that ya'll always showed me. Please take care of yourself. I will stop by to see you when I come down this summer. Charlie was one of the finest, kindest, and most compassionate men that I have ever crossed paths with. I served with Charlie from 1990-94 on the school board, and I have wonderful memories of our time together on the board. I am back on the school board after being out of office for over twelve years. I will always treasure those precious memories of the years I served with one of lifes joys to be around. I have a video of a picnic we all had together at John Slidell Park in Slidell.
