Charles "Butch" Strain, Jr.'s Obituary
Charles Julius “Butch” Strain, Jr. passed away on Monday, February 15, 2010.
Beloved husband of Carolyn Cleland Strain for the past 53 years; father of Chuck Strain and his wife Regina, La. Commissioner of Agriculture Mike Strain and his wife Susan, and Ann Strain; grandfather to Michael, Melissa, Jessica, Amanda, Tommy and Jonathan; and great-grandfather to Allison and Emmerie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hilda Marange Strain; his father, Charles Julius “Charlie” Strain, Sr.; and his brother Rodney Jack Strain, Sr.
Age 72 years, Butch was a 5th generation native and lifelong resident of Abita Springs, LA. A 3rd generation cattleman, he owned and operated with his brother Jack, Strain Cattle Company in St. Tammany and Plaquemine Parishes. He was also a retired member of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of the National Cattleman’s Association and the Louisiana Cattleman’s Association.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to Celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 12:00 Noon at St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church, 72040 Maple St., Abita Springs, LA 70420.
Visitation AT THE CHURCH on Thursday will begin at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow Mass in Strain Family Cemetery.
The family would prefer donations for Masses in memory of Butch.
