Charles Joseph Marquette's Obituary
Charles Joseph Marquette, known to everyone as “Buddy”, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025 in Covington, Louisiana, surrounded by his family. He was 83 years old.
Buddy is survived by his two sisters, Margie Loomis, Diane Persick, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Omer Marquette and Gertrude Michel Marquette.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana in February of 1942, Buddy lived most of his life in the Gretna, Louisiana area where he worked as a sandblaster for Alfortish Enterprises. Later in life, Buddy worked as a caretaker for property in the Houma area. In 2005 he moved to the Northshore and settled in the Folsom area with family.
Buddy loved to tinker with small engines and pickup trucks. He loved working with his hands on any project he could find. His real passion was helping people. He was a kind and gentle soul who made friends wherever he went. He adored his nieces and nephews and loved spending time watching them play sports, going to church together and eating dinner at local restaurants. During his life he enjoyed music, dancing, traveling, playing pool and caring for his beloved dogs. Buddy was a resident of Covington for the past 15 years. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service on Saturday, August 30, 2025, 10:00am at St Anne Catholic Church Cemetery, 405 Franklin Street, Napoleonville, LA. A time of visitation with the family will follow the graveside service.
