Chadwick William Collings' Obituary
Chadwick William Collings, at the age of 52, entered eternal rest peacefully on Thursday morning, December 14, 2023, at Lakeview Regional Medical Center. He was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on February 13, 1971, to R. William “Bill” Collings and LaGene Hays Collings.
A native of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and proud resident of Mandeville for over 14 years, Chadwick graduated from Louisiana State University and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1994, and Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Center for Law in 1997. In 1996, Mr. Collings was honorably discharged from Louisiana Army National Guard, after serving as a dedicated infantryman for seven years. Chadwick began his professional career as an outstanding attorney, and was named Milling, Benson, Woodward managing partner on January 1, 2021. Some of the proudest moments of his legal career were spent representing the St.
Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Department. In 2021, Chadwick successfully completed the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office P.O.S.T. 1 Reserve Academy.
Chadwick was unique and irreplaceable, appreciated by all for his intelligence and quick wit. He never lacked for a well-thought out and historically-based response and/or a witty anecdote to any question. He was quick to laugh and loved to have fun, resulting in an eclectic and devoted group of lifelong friends. His favorite things were watching his sons in their various sports and activities and spending time with his family enjoying something delicious he had created on the Big Green Egg with a nice bottle of Cabernet. He remained an unconditional fan of the LSU Tigers, regardless of their record. Chadwick was well-respected personally and professionally and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
His jovial spirit will remain in the many memories of his cherished friends and family until they meet him again. Chadwick was a faithful Catholic who attended Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Linda Higgins Collings, his two sons of whom he was most proud, Matthew William Collings and John Patrick “Jack” Collings, and his siblings: Keisha Collings Hadden (James) of Greensboro, NC; Tonya Collings Crombie (Bill) of Mandeville; Trevor Collings (Rachel) of Denham Springs; Christopher Reynolds of Mountain View, AR; and Rachel Reynolds Schneider (Mike) of Little Rock, AR. Chadwick will also be dearly missed by a host of beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends, whom he dearly loved.
Chadwick was preceded in death by his parents Bill and LaGene Collings, his stepfather Richard Reynolds, and his grandparents Bob and Mildred Collings and Eugene and Mary Hays.
