Catherine Corte Spadaro's Obituary
Catherine Corte Spadaro passed away August 23, 2023 at Christwood Retirement Community. She was born November 13, 1924 in Port Arthur, Texas, to the late Joseph and Rosaria Tusa Corte, and reared in New Orleans.
Catherine is survived by her son, James J. Spadaro, M.D. (Liz); three daughters: Mary Margaret Miller (Chuck), Cathy Parker (P. Craig, M.D.) and Jean Vossen (Dave); one sister, Josie Burvant (late Bob, D.D.S.); ten grandchildren: Rebecca Miller Gardner, Joshua Miller, Stephanie Spadaro, Elisa Spadaro Moore, James J. Spadaro III, Lauren Hilbert Gross, Kevin and Justin Hilbert, Paul Parker and Catie Parker McDaniel, and thirteen great grandchildren.
Catherine was preceded in death by her beloved husband James J. Spadaro, her daughter Nancy Spadaro Hilbert, D.V.M. (Bill, M.D.), three brothers, Phillip, Tony, and Sam Corte, and three sisters, Margaret Corte Valenti, Sarah Corte Savoia and Virginia Corte Colletti.
A graduate of Dominican College, she taught school until her second child was born. When her fifth child was in school, she went back to college in library science and enjoyed being a research librarian at the International House for several years. Then, when her husband retired, she became a realtor and worked until they moved to Covington, where they enjoyed their retirement and their friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, Masses are preferred.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Monday, August 28, 2023 at 2:00 PM with visitation beginning at 12:00 PM until service time. Interment will take place following the service at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, 2280 W 21st Avenue, Covington LA 70433.
