Carrie Mae Penn's Obituary
Carrie Mae Penn of Mandeville, LA passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. She was born on January 18, 1937 in Uneedus, LA to Ralph and Sarah (Wilkinson) Penn.
Carrie is survived by her children Rhonda Adil (Nevzat), Leslie Penn Bates (David), and Lionel Penn; her six grandchildren Harrison Vaughn, Jr., Tylor Penn, Lionel David, Jr., Nickolas Philip Penn, Dionel Julius Penn, and Sarah Adil, and two great-grandchildren Laylah and Londyn. She is also survived by her surrogate daughter Felicia Thompson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Carrie is preceded in death by her siblings Johnny Penn, Charles Penn, Earl Penn, Northwestern Penn, and Susie Alexander.
Carrie grew up in Covington, LA and lived most of her life in St. Tammany Parish. Carrie was a domestic houseworker and worked at Aquistapace’s Deli for many years. She enjoyed going to the casino and dancing. Carrie was known for taking care of, and looking out for others in the community.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services, officiated by Reverend Mallory Callahan, II, at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Ave, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 2:00 PM with visitation on Saturday beginning at 12:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Michael Robertson, Robert Laurent, Jr., Huston Wilson, III, Aaron Washington, Oscar Elzey, and Jerald Brown. Interment will follow the services in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, Covington, LA.
