Carolyn R. Helwick's Obituary
On Sunday, January 31, 2021, Carolyn Raschke Helwick went to be with the Lord. A beloved mother, wife, and grandmother “Mimi”; she was 73 years old. Although a native of New Orleans, she has been resident of Covington for the past 28 years.
Born to the late Willy Raschke and the late Nettye McKeith, Carolyn is one of four children. Carolyn was raised in the St. Charles and Carrollton Avenue area, she attended Fortier High School, then went on to Meadows Draughton Business College. After earning her Associate’s Degree, she was employed by Bell South Telephone, Bank of New Orleans and Whitney Bank. She later went to work for Milchem Drilling Supply Company until they closed. Carolyn spent her remaining years as a loving stay-at-home mother.
She is survived by her husband, David A. Helwick; her son Joshua David; her son Neil Jacob, and his wife Robyn Nowlin Helwick; and her loving grandchildren Ryder Wanz Helwick and Lydia Margaret Helwick. She is also survived by her three brothers: David Raschke, his wife Chris and nephew Michael of Montana; Billy Raschke and nieces Melissa and Melanie of North Carolina; her brother Walter Raschke, his wife Debra, nephews Randy and Casey, Casey’s wife Tyra, and her wonderful great-nephew Sawyer of New Orleans.
Services will be held privately by the family. Interment will take place in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, Covington, LA.
