Carol Falcon Aswad's Obituary
Carol Falcon Aswad passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018 in Covington LA after a long illness.
She was the daughter of Hymus C. Falcon and the former Octavie Landry, and the sister of Hymus C. “Buzzy” Falcon, Jr., Theodore A. Falcon and Grace M. Post. She was 87.
She was born in Norco, LA, but grew up on the Westbank at Willswood Plantation near Waggaman. She graduated from St. Mary’s Dominican High School in 1947 and attended SLI (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education in 1951.
In 1956, she married Kay B. Aswad, to whom she was married for 61 years. She taught elementary students in St. Charles, Lafayette, Vermillion, Rapides and Iberia Parishes until she retired in 1993.
For the last 26 years, Carol lived in Covington. She and Kay were active in the Knights of Columbus and its Ladies Auxiliary at Mary Queen of Peace Parish in Mandeville, and her greatest delight was the time she spent with her family.
Carol died peacefully with family at her side. She will be profoundly missed. She was proceeded in death by her beloved husband, her brothers and her parents. She is survived by her sister Grace and sisters-in-law Doris A. Aswad, L. Fran Falcon and Jean A. Hare, as well as her four children- Karen Aswad Schneider (Norrie), Kathleen “Kaki” Aswad Wells, Kenneth C. “Kenny” Aswad and Karl J. Aswad (Birona); five grandchildren- Seaman Whitley L. Aswad (USCG), Brittany Aswad Williamson (Jacob), 2nd Lt. Liam S. Wells (USMC), Scout K. Aswad and Elia A. Aswad; and one great-grandson, Tanner Reid Williamson. She is mourned as well by her many nieces, nephews and cousins and by her many friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Carol’s life at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Friday evening September 7, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM as well as the Funeral Mass at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1501 W. Causeway Approach, Mandeville, LA 70471 on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM with a visitation at church beginning at 10:00 AM.
Interment will follow in Garden of Memories in Metairie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Mrs. Aswad to be made to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
