Carmen married the late Porter L. Marr, December 17, 1944, and together they had 5 children, James L. Marr (Melody), Judy G. Betz (Bob), Larry S. Marr (Carol), Carol S. Gordon (Don), and Donna J. Rone (Rodney). She will be dearly missed by her 14 grandchildren, Tami (Greg), Adam ( Jennifer), Jason (Lori), Jerrod (Kelli), Julie (Paul), Jimmy (April), Scott (Christin), Carrie, Chris (Kim), Susan (Marc), Sarah, Alison, Jamie, and Emily; her 18 loving great grandchildren, Jackson, Zachary, Hudson, Zoe, Levi, Katherine (Michael), Austyn, Sierra, Elaina, Austin, Cohn, Matthew, Gabi, Porter, Abigail, Jacob, Chloe, and Emma; and 3 precious great great grandchildren, Madison, Kyleigh, and Jackson. Upon high school graduation from Jewell, Kansas, Carmen attended business school in Topeka, Kansas. After completing school she worked as a Secretary at a Topeka company. This training was important as she was the Sales Assistant for Porter for many years. They worked from their home as he was an outside sales representative in Oklahoma for V. Mueller and Co., a surgical and medical equipment supplier. Her skills and support were a vital part of their success and the ability to raise a family of five children. They resided first in Dallas TX for 12 years, and then spent 28 years in Oklahoma City, OK. After their retirement, they moved to Mission, Texas, where she enjoyed many years traveling, visiting friends and family, making quilts, and treating children and grandchildren to many happy memories. Her family will always treasure the many quilts she made for them and the memories of playing dominoes and other games together. Carmen was a lifelong member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church and then the United Methodist Church and was active in United Methodist Women and Sunday School.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service on the 31st day of May, 2014 at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Dallas, TX. at 3:00 PM.
