Carmen Carney Landry's Obituary
Carmen Landry passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at the age of 66.
Former wife of John A. Landry, Jr. Loving mother of Kristin L. Davis, Stephen J. Landry (Michelle), Step Mother to Leah L. Ragusa (Peter) and the late Michael C. Landry. Daughter of the late Virgie Vestell Varnado Carney and Homer Lee Carney. Sister of Mary Henricks, Jean Frisby, Jerald Carney, James Carney, Homer Carney and the late Jewel Carney, Jeanice Lewis and Janelle Steinhart. Grandmother of Peter Ragusa, Jonathan Bergeron, Joshua Bergeron, Brayden Davis, Parker Davis, Seth Ragusa, Gabriel Ragusa and Leila Landry.
Born in El Dorado, Arkansas, Carmen spent her childhood growing up around her eight brothers and sisters. She later attended El Dorado High school before moving to New Orleans in the early 1970’s. As a lover of nature, you could find Carmen planting flowers in her garden, or setting up nectar feeders for the humming birds. She was an avid reader and constantly showed off her smart during the evening episodes of Jeopardy or a game of Scrabble. In her later life she would have no greater joy that getting to spend time with her eight grandchildren. They were truly the light of her life.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM with visitation on Saturday beginning at 9:00 AM.
Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
