Carmen Nilsa Gallagher's Obituary
Carmen Nilsa Gallagher passed peacefully with her children by her side on April 17, 2026 at the age of 78. Carmen was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico on August 6, 1948 to Marcelino Rodriguez and Antonia Mendez Rodriguez. Carmen was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert (Bob) Luther Gallagher.
After meeting and marrying in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Carmen and Bob moved to Slidell, Louisiana, where they built a life together and raised their two children, Brian Gallagher and Lara Gallagher Galloway. They made Slidell their home for 37 years.
Carmen is survived by her two children, Brian Gallagher and Lara Gallagher Galloway (and her husband, Justin); eight grandchildren: Wyatt Galloway, Ella Gallagher, Charlotte Galloway, Lilly Gallagher, Emma Galloway, Laine Galloway, Tucker Gallagher, and Lilian Schexnaydre; and her two brothers, Marcello Rodriguez Jr. (and his wife, May) and Louis Rodriguez (and his wife, Chris).
Carmen was a loving and compassionate wife, Mom, Nana and friend. She loved to volunteer her time and she never met a stranger. She had a gift for creativity. Her happiest times were spent traveling with Bob and taking care of her grandchildren.
Her family is thankful for the dedicated care and love she received from staff while living at Avanti Senior home for the last several years.
E.J. Fielding Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements. Please sign the guestbook at https://www.ejfieldingfh.com.
