Carla Buchholz's Obituary
Carla Buchholz passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023. She is survived by her loving husband, Colin Buchholz; her children, Colin John Buchholz (Stephanie), Josh Buchholz (Jennifer) and Catherine Hobbs (Ben) and her seven beautiful grandchildren Kinsley, Carter, Hailey, Crew, Zachary, Cason and Karoline. She is also survived by her siblings Selletta Diane Donahue, Donna Shows Roussel and Sharon Renee Mulkey and her multiple nieces/nephews and lifelong friends.
Carla was born in Mobile, AL on September 7th, 1961, to Frank Clay Shows and Natalia “Tillie” Burns Shows, who preceded her in death. Carla and her family moved to the Northshore in 1978 where she graduated from Mandeville High and met her husband, Colin. They created a life full of love and happiness in the heart of Mandeville where she was heavily involved in the community. Her family and traveling were two of her greatest joys in life. She was never one to sit still for too long and was always on the go.
She spent her last day with her feet in the sand at the beach… her favorite place. All that knew her will always remember her for her love of life, her laughter and her smile. She was a bright light that was extinguished too soon. She was a perfect example of a servant to her community. She served on the Mandeville City Council, the Keep Mandeville Beautiful Board of Directors, and the Keep Louisiana Beautiful Board of Directors. Her love of life was displayed every Mardi Gras as she led the Goddesses of Fun and Merriment down Bourbon Street for their annual display of costumes to the delight of parade-goers.
