Captain Kenneth A. Davis' Obituary
Captain Kenneth A. Davis passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2010, at the age of 83.
Captain Kenneth Davis was the beloved husband of Margaret Guderian Davis and was happily married for almost 63 years. Father of Kenneth A. Davis, Jr., Barbara D. Phipps, Jan Davis (Rosty), Eileen D. Duke (Randy), Suzanne D. Johnson (Roland) and Diana Davis (Jeff). Son of the late Lily Vaden Davis and Carl Davis. Brother of Martha Gordon (Bob). Grandfather of Charmaine Allen Causey (James) and Gabrielle Anna Johnson. The family also wishes to remember extended family: Ernest Polk, General Jess Allen and Steve Allen.
From 1942 - 1945 Kenneth Davis sailed on ammunition and troop carrier ships for duty in the South Pacific Theater, WWII. From 1946 -1964 Davis sailed on tankers for Standard Oil (Exxon.) In 1964 , Ken Davis was elected into the Crescent River Port Pilots Association in New Orleans and he retired from the CRPPA in 1990. From 1990 to 2006, Ken enjoyed his life of retirement by actively managing his property fondly known as “Silver Springs Ranch” located in Poplarville, Mississippi. Captain Ken and Margaret Davis lived in Mandeville, La., from 2006 until 2010.
A private service will be held on May 8, 2010, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you continue to remember the wonderful deeds and kind words of this generous man and hold his memory in your hearts and prayers.
