Burnley Bentley Foster's Obituary
Burnley Bentley “Bunny” Foster born January 25, 1950 in St. Andrew, Jamaica, passed away on August 28, 2025 in Madisonville, LA. He was a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was known for his laid-back spirit, generous heart and deep love for his family.
Bunny spent his early childhood years in Cayman Brac, Cayman Islands. He moved with his family to America in 1956 and they settled in Chalmette, LA in 1961. It is there that he met the love of his life, Mary Ann Ybarzabal, whom he married in 1968. Together they had one daughter, Sindy Ann Foster (Guarino).
Bunny was a hard-working, skilled carpenter and contractor who worked alongside his father and brothers for many years building a successful business of developing homes, rental properties and commercial properties in both St. Bernard Parish and the Cayman Islands. He and Mary made the permanent move to Grand Cayman in 1987 and continued the family business. Bunny was most passionate about fishing, boating and drag racing. He spent most of his retirement island hopping around the Caribbean, deep sea-fishing and searching for the next best Rum bar. He was a well-respected member of the Cayman Islands Angling Club, and one of his greatest joys was mentoring young fisherman. Bunny lived life to the fullest. He loved sharing his island with visiting family and friends, hosting big cookouts, and making everyone feel welcomed at his home.
Bunny is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Ann Ybarzabal Foster; his beloved daughter, Sindy Foster Guarino and son-in-law, Gerald Guarino, who he admired greatly. He adored his grandchildren, Matthew Raymond Carbajal and Marisa Mary Guarino; and great-grandchildren Amelia Rae Carbajal, Bentley Edward Carbajal, and Sophie Jayne Carbajal, who all knew him as “Papa.” He was a loving brother to siblings Ronald Berkeley Foster (Joyce), Donna Foster Campbell (Bruce), and Lonnie Clifton Foster. He was a cherished uncle to nieces and nephews, Stacy Foster Rodriguez (Henry), Christie Foster Serigne (Beau), Randall Foster Martin (Katie) and Andrew Berkeley Martin. And lastly, he was lovingly known as “Pops” and adored by Brayden and Ava Philpott.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Berkeley & Selena Foster and his great-nephew, Gage Garcia.
Bunny leaves behind a legacy of love and good vibes to all who were blessed to know and love him. He had a vast array of friends that he considered family and cousins that he kept in touch with daily. He will be terribly missed by his family, friends and community. May his soul rest in peace.
All funeral services will be held in the Cayman Islands.
