Burnett "Bernie" Paul Fenger Jr.'s Obituary
Burnett “Bernie” Fenger, Jr. passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023. He was born in New Orleans, LA on December 19, 1945. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Eileen McMurray Fenger; his children, Bryan Fenger and Erin Fenger Morgan (Todd); his grandchildren, Caden Fenger, Tabitha, Kennedy and Quinn Morgan.
Born in New Orleans in the Irish Channel, he attended St. Alphonsus Elementary and Redemptorist High School. A graduate of Southeastern University with a B.A. in Business, Bernie began his career as an officer with the New Orleans Police Department. He then became a federal agent with the DEA and dedicated his life to drug enforcement in both the public and private sector.
He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially at their sporting events rarely missing a game. He also wouldn’t miss a dance recital or swim meet. A longtime resident of Birmingham, AL, Metairie, Mandeville and Madisonville, he was happiest spending time at home with his family or on travel adventures with his wife.
He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Ann Lovell and his half-brother, Shelly Gee.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the care provided by Passages Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Fenger may be made to The Samaritan Center in Mandeville.
