Gwen Colin James
Sitting here today, December 15, 2015 and remembering my oldest sister Carolyn, on the one month anniversary of her death, I could not help but think of Bridget also. November 15, 2014 is the day Bridget stepped into eternity, exactly one year before Carolyn,
I also could not help but think of the kind and loving person Bridget was. She was a wonderful mother to her sons. She was intelligent, graceful, and so, so thoughtful. She liked decorating her home and she was blessed with the ability and creativity to transform it into a place you didn't want to leave, once you were there. Her home, to me, reflected her heart. It was warm, inviting, comfortable, and a place of true hospitality. She enjoyed treating all of her aunties to a special day at her home, making us feel like "queens for a day".
Bridget was a very quiet and private person, and I respected that. And while I only saw her about once a year, since I lived in Houston, Texas and my trips home to New Orleans were usually very short weekend trips so I didn't "get across the lake", as we say, to visit her as often as I would have like to; time and miles did not separate our love for each other. I knew, without a doubt that Bridget loved me, and she knew that I loved her too.
I miss her so much. She was a special, special person; yes, a very special woman and I will cherish her warm smile, gracious heart, and gentle spirit, all my life. My hope is that she is with the Lord in Paradise and that I will see her again and get to spend eternity with our Father God, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, other loved ones... and Bridget.
Love, Auntie Gwen
