Bishop Jessie Lee Burris, Sr. passed away on Friday, December 30, 2005. Beloved husband of Thelma Brown Burris. Father of Melvina B. Callion, (William), Elizabeth B. Izard, (Charles), Jessie L. Burris, Jr., Vertina T. B. Banks and Joseph K. Burris. Grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Brother of Willie E. Burris, Lillie P. Williams and the late Lizzie Cryer, James Wesley Burris, Sr., and Millard R. Burris, Sr. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Age 80 years; a native of Folsom, LA, resided in Little Rock, AR for 42 years and returned to Folsom for the past 5 years. Bishop Jessie Lee Burris was the presiding officer of the Southwestern Diocese of the Church of Christ Holiness U.S.A. for over 25 years and served as National President of the Church of Christ Holiness U.S.A. for over 7 years. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service at Midway Church of Christ Holiness, 12434 Hollins Rd, Folsom, LA on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at 11:00 AM. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 13320 Broadway St., Folsom, LA, and again on Thursday from 10:00 AM to service time at Midway Church of Christ Holiness. E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, Inc. in charge of arrangements.
