Billie Riggs Eustis' Obituary
Billie R. Eustis of Covington died Thursday, December 20, 2007.
She was born Mary William Riggs on August 29, 1920 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to William Alvin Riggs and Winifred Colite Maine. Billie’s two older sisters Winifred Riggs Smith Cogswell and Laura Riggs Fleischman predeceased her, as did her husband Scott Hellwege Eustis of Carriere, Mississippi and New Orleans. She is survived by her sister, Ellen Riggs Heintz, brother-in-law, Louis Cochran Heintz of Covington and many nieces and nephews.
In 1950, Billie joined forces with her sister Winifred and was both a second mother and a father to her niece Jere Smith Pfister of Houston, Texas, and nephews Clay Riggs Smith of Boise, Idaho and Julian Riggs Smith of Durham, New Hampshire. Billie worked for the Federal Government for many years supporting, not only herself, but also who ever else needed her. In her later years, she served as a volunteer at St. Tammany Parish Hospital and Southeast Hospital.
Visitation will be at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home at 9am on Saturday, December 29, 2007, followed by a memorial service at 10am.
A private burial will be held at Waveland Cemetery in Waveland, Mississippi.
