Bill J. Blanchard's Obituary
Bill J. Blanchard passed away on Friday, November 21, 2014 near Mandeville, LA. He was born on Sunday, February 12, 1950 in Lafayette, LA to Ruby Walton and Joseph Blanchard. Bill and his mother moved to Orange, TX shortly after his birth and lived there until he graduated high school. He married Mary Helen May and for 25 years the family lived in West Monroe where he began his career with the Department of Health and Hospitals. He was promoted to Program Manager in Substance Abuse Prevention and moved to Baton Rouge for the 10 years prior to his retirement. He and his wife recently moved to Mandeville, LA in order to be closer to their grandchildren.
The beloved husband of Mary Helen May Blanchard for 36 years, he is survived by two sons - Korey W. Blanchard (Jennifer) and Dane C. Blanchard; one daughter - Anna Blanchard-Boles; eight grandchildren - Konnor, Pierce, Dominique and Beau Blanchard, Rowan and Grant Blanchard, Evan Marie and Aidan Boles. Korey and Jennifer will soon be blessed with little Gabriel Joseph Blanchard. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Joy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at 11:30 AM on Monday, November 24, 2014 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte St. Mandeville, LA 70448.
Visitation at the church on Monday will begin at 10:00 AM.
Interment at the St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery will immediately follow mass.
A memorial celebration will take place from 2-4:00 PM on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at St. Paschal’s Knights of Columbus Hall, West Monroe, LA.
