Betty Ruth Owens' Obituary
Betty Ruth Peters Owens passed away at 88 years old on June 08, 2019. She was born April 8, 1931 in Ozark, Alabama at her family home to Fred Kenneth Peters and Inez Carroll Peters. She has been a resident of St. Tammany Parish since 1971. The beloved wife of the late Daniel “Webster” Owens, Sr., she is survived by her son Daniel W. Owens, Jr. (Brenda), her daughter Lil Cooper (Michael), five grandchildren – Jacob Owens, Sr.,(Stacey), Courtney Guillot (Jordan), Jennifer Crow (Matt), Jason Cooper (Lydia), Megan Cooper, and five great-grandchildren – Jacob, Jr., and Jaxon Owens, Lucas Crow, Shiloh and Miles Cooper, one brother - Howard Peters, three sisters - Christine Pasch, Motsie Shoemaker, Sister - Jo Daya. She was preceded in death by her great-grandson- Karter Cooper, two brothers – Carroll and Freddie Peters, two sisters - Melba Hollis, and Doris Matthews, and her parents.
Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandma. She enjoyed fishing and crabbing, cooking, making cakes from scratch, and sewing. She was a hard worker, starting her working career in her 20’s as a hair-dresser. Later on she delivered the States Item – Times Picayune newspaper for around 25 years. She will be deeply missed by all of her family, but we find comfort knowing she is with our Heavenly Father.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue Covington, LA 70433. Visitation on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to service time. Interment in Southeast LA Veterans Cemetery, Slidell, LA.
