Betty Bascle Metz's Obituary
Betty Bascle Metz (formerly of Metairie) passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at the age of 93. Beloved wife of 68 years to the late Thomas E. Metz. Beloved mother of Thomas A. Metz and the late Lisa Metz Saunders. Grandmother of Jonathan Saunders (Kim), Bradley Saunders (Sarah), Kristina Metz and great grandchild Logan Saunders. Mother-in-law of William (Billy) Saunders and Julie Bolden Metz.
Betty was the daughter of the late Andrew S. Bascle and Ella H. Bascle and sister of the late Lucille, O’Neal, Merlin, Hubert, Floyd, Byron, Horace, Allen, Bobby, and Gerard Bascle. She is survived by many nephews, nieces, family, and friends
Born in Bourg, Louisiana on April 20, 1929, Betty was brought to New Orleans as a young child and was raised by her sister, Lucille Bascle, following the death of her parents. She graduated from John McDonogh High School and worked for many years at Maison Blanche Canal Street location. In addition, she loved to play golf and cards with friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice Associates and St. Joseph of Harahan for the care that was provided during Betty’s final weeks of life.
Family and friends are invited to visitation at Garden of Memories (4900 Airline Dr. Metairie, LA) on Saturday, October 15th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with prayer service immediately following visitation. Graveside services will be private. In lieu of flowers or memorials, donations to a charity of your choice, in honor of Betty, are preferred.
