Betty George (Pieroni) Gieseler's Obituary
Betty George (Pieroni) Gieseler (1931-2024) passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, January 9, 2024. Betty was a native New Orleanian. She is survived by a daughter, Faith P. Wiebelt; granddaughter, Christa Wiebelt (Scott); grandson, Paul Wiebelt (Carrie); grandson, Nicholas Evans and great-grandson, Christian. She is preceded in death by her father, William W. George, Sr.; mother, Emily Bruning George; husband, Joseph H. Gieseler, Jr.; daughter, Paula P. Evans; grandson, Steven Evans and son-in-law, George A. Wiebelt, Jr.
Betty studied at Louisiana State University School of Nursing – New Orleans. She was a dedicated school teacher at the St. Louis Cathedral Elementary School and enjoyed instilling in her students the passion to learn. She retired to Mandeville. Betty had a zest for life and lived it with grace, dignity and courage. Her unwavering faith in God supported her throughout her journey, and ultimately gave her peace. Betty loved spending time with friends and family and was an enthusiastic Saints fan. She enjoyed sharing stories of her childhood to include riding the streetcar and eating in the family-owned restaurant Bruning’s located in West End Park. Those who were blessed with her presence will miss her immensely.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the interment service on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 11:00AM held at the Greenwood Mausoleum located at 5190 Canal Boulevard, New Orleans, Louisiana.
