Ms Bessie was one of the first people to greet my shy mother, Ruth Hampton, when she came to live at Weldon Estate. She made sure my mom was seated with her and her friends at all meals. She was always the one to see when others needed a smile or a kind word. She spoke often about her family and faith. Mostly I just know that she found something each day to be happy about. She was always interested in keeping up on what was going on in her world. She was interested in the people around her and would always ask for updates on health problems or the newest grandbaby...or the latest Weldon news.My condolences to the family...you lost a wonderful woman.
I feel as though I have lost my dearest friend in MaMaw Bessie. She was like a Mother to me as well as a Grandmother to my kids. Our deepest sympathy to Betty, Rodney, Dennis, and the rest of the family. There are not enough words to describe what a wonderful person your Mother was. I will always hold her in my heart. I know she is at peace now in heaven with her Lord and savior. Sorry we could not make the trip to be there with you all at this time but you are in our thoughts and prayers. John, Sarah. Mawmaw will always remain a special part of my childhood memories, as well as my adult realities. She was my "learning curve" my confidant, my ruler by which I measured success. I adore wearing "day dresses" because they remind me of her. Cooking; my first pair of good shoes{Aigner}, were her discards. Always loving, non-judgemental, my heart till the end of time.
