Bertha Dakin Rauch entered into Eternal Life on Thursday, May 30, 2024 in Covington, LA. She was born on January 16,1943 in New Orleans, LA to the late John Eugene Dakin, Jr. and Theresa Agnes Wells Dakin.
Bertha was the beloved wife of the late John Joseph Rauch for 27 years. She was the loving mother of Rosemarie R. Hare (William), John Joseph Rauch, Jr. (Marilyn), Darren P. Rauch (Elisabeth), and Julie R. House (Gregory). Bertha was the proud grandmother of Victoria Hare, Shelby Hare Hutchinson (Tyler), and Madison Hare; Heather Tallo (Gene), Lyndsay Rauch (fiancé, Chris), John Rauch, III (fiancé, Elizabeth), Gabrielle Rauch, Phillip Rauch, and Jacob Rauch; Amanda Walston (Hunter), and Patrick Rauch; Savannah Jenkins (fiancé, Ryan), Kayley House, and Grace House; great-grandmother of Tony, Charlotte, Kohen, Hunter, Jr., Lucas, Miles, Amelia, and Emery. She was the sister of Mary Hefler (Charles), Jeanne Guillot (David), Theresa Huesman (Lenny), Robert Thomas Dakin, Sr. (Jackie), Mildred Fransen (Henry), Mardi Black (Mark), the late John E. Dakin, III, and John E. Dakin, IV.
Bertha graduated from Redemptorist High School in New Orleans. She taught for the Archdiocese of New Orleans Schools for many years. After retiring from the classroom, she served as a secretary at St. Catherine of Siena and then St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church in Abita Springs, LA for the last 20 years. Bertha was deeply devoted to her Catholic Faith. She touched many lives during her service in schools and at church. She will be dearly missed by those that knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass at St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church, 72040 Maple St., Abita Springs, LA 70420 on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 12:00 Noon with visitation from 10:00 AM until Mass time.
