Ben Andrew Johnston's Obituary
Ben Andrew Johnston, age 83, departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 11, 2014. In his adult years, he came to know Christ as his personal Savior and clearly believed the Scriptural text Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.", a favorite verse of his.
Mr. Johnston was the son of Ben L. and Mamie Milloit Johnston. He was born in Centreville, MS on March 30, 1931.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Marion Sellars Videau Johnston. He is survived by one son, Mr. Clay Matthew Johnston, one daughter, Mrs. Rachel Johnston Dobrey, three grandchildren, Mrs. Aynsley Kindig, Mrs. Caroline Horner, Mrs. Lane Gregg, two great grandchildren, and one brother, Steven M. Johnston.
Mr. Johnston graduated from Culver Military Academy in Culver, Indiana. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University along with his Lieutenant’s Commission in the Transportation Corp, United States Army 1954.
Following his military career, he was associated with Mutual Benefit Life and Gulf States Plywood Co. He was a resident of Covington and a member of Mandeville Bible Church.
His family wishes to thank Heritage Manor of Mandeville and Natural Touch for their kind support. They also deeply appreciate the counsel of his devoted nephew, Dr. Brent D. Videau of Pensacola, FL.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 9:30 AM until service time. Interment will follow services at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington, LA.
