Barbara Morgan Laverty's Obituary
Barbara Morgan Laverty, 84, of Mandeville, LA passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. She was born on March 31, 1934 in New Orleans, LA to the late George Michael and Barbara Stechman Morgan.
Barbara is survived by her brother Robert and his wife Argiro Morgan; her nephews Robert Tracy Morgan, Michael George Morgan, John Stephen Morgan, and Matthew James Morgan; and her nieces Tracy Morgan and Claire Davidoski. She is also survived by numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews whom she loved very much and many extended family members who will miss her dearly.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Keith Stephen Morgan.
Barbara grew up and was educated in New Orleans, LA. After graduating from high school, she worked for the Port of Embarkation. Barbara also worked for the Department of Commerce and the Department of Defense for the United States Army in Washington, D.C. She also worked overseas in Germany and Austria and travelled extensively throughout Europe during her time overseas. She later returned to Washington, D.C. and eventually retired in Mandeville, LA. Barbara was a devout Catholic and highly devoted to Mary, the Blessed Mother. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, and spent many hours at the Eucharistic Chapel in prayer. Barbara was intellectually gifted, an accomplished pianist, an excellent bridge player and enjoyed reading.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM with visitation on Tuesday beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow the service in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery, St. Benedict, LA.
