Barbara Feth Jenkins' Obituary
Our beloved Barbara Feth Jenkins quietly departed this earth Monday October 18, 2021. She was born in New Orleans, LA on October 12, 1937 and grew up in Mandeville, LA. The first of three children born to George Edward Feth and Haydee Ruel Feth, Barbara graduated from St. Scholastica Academy and later received a degree in nursing. Upon becoming a nurse, she always chose to work in nursing homes whose patients she felt were the ones who needed her the most. No doubt there was a bit of chaos upon Barbara’s arrival at the Pearly Gates as all her former patients pushed, shoved and elbowed their way to be among the first to welcome her to her eternal home and thank her for all the loving care they received in their final days on Earth. Observing this scene, God must have smiled in amusement, saying to himself “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
Barbara had a great sense of humor and enjoyed many things, among them watching LSU and Saints games and reruns of the Blue Blood TV series, attempting to beat the odds at nearby casinos, walking on the beach, camping, trips to Arkansas and out West, collecting interesting rocks and never tiring of listening to the unique voice of Willie Nelson. Barbara loved animals, especially stray cats. Too numerous to mention by name, a great many felines found their forever home with Barbara over the years.
Barbara is survived by her siblings, Kathy Feth Bourgeois and George E. Feth, Jr., her children Jaqueline Helfritsh, Julius (“Fritz”) Helfritsh, And Jeffery Helfritsh; grandchildren Audra Cox and Rae Treptoe; nephew Ronnie Willette, Jr.; great nieces and great nephew Haley Willette, Rachael Frerrichs and Aramus Willette. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents George Edward Feth and Haydee Ruel Feth and nephew Christopher Willette.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Bush Fire Station and Acadian Ambulance EMT’s and the medical personnel at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Lakeview Regional Hospital, Lacombe Nursing Center and Compassus Hospice for their excellent care these past few months.
Due to COVID-19, social distancing is encouraged and masks are required to attend services.
