Barbara Kenny Edwards' Obituary
Barbara Kenny Edwards died on Tuesday, November 18, 2008. She was born in Saginaw, Michigan, the daughter of the late James C. and Marie Shannon Kenny. After high school graduation, she attended the Wheeling Hospital School of Nursing in Wheeling, West Virginia. She then joined the Army Nurse Corp and spent three years in England as a First Lieutenant during World War II. Following Army service, she moved to Madisonville, LA where she worked for the St. Tammany Parish Health Department.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack W. Edwards, December 7, 2002. Surviving are her brother, James (Eleanor) Kenny, a niece Barbara Kenny Chenoweth, two nephews, Tim (Marge) Kenny and Tom (Debbie) Kenny, all of Cadiz, Ohio; and seven great nieces and nephews four great-great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two step-sons, Henry and Marc (Heidi) Edwards and two step-grandchildren, Callie and Kyle Edwards of Florida.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 11:00 AM at St. Anselm’s Catholic Church, 307 St. Mary Street, Madisonville, LA 70447.
A wake will be on Friday, November 21, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433. Visitation will continue on Saturday AT THE CHURCH beginning at 10:00 AM.
Interment will follow in Theodore Dendinger Cemetery in Madisonville, LA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Katherine's Hospice, 2701 Highway 51, LaPlace, LA 70068 in Barbara's memory.
