Avis Prond Wood's Obituary
Avis Prond Wood of Covington, LA, a beautiful soul, went to her heavenly home on Friday, April 16, 2021. She was born in Chicago, IL on Mother’s Day May 13, 1928 to the late John Prond and Marie Prond.
Avis was an honor student and was educated at a private school founded by George Mortimer Pullman. Avis was an administrative assistant for the State of California, Miami Dade County, Florida and the Corp of Engineers, and Federal Railroad Administration. Her career took her from San Diego, CA to Miami, FL to Hot Springs and Little Rock, AR. She settled in Gulfport, MS and later in Covington, LA and became involved in church and civic groups.
Avis was a lover of books, music, and flowers. Avis had many friends and lived a full and happy life. She was dearly valued and will be missed.
Avis is survived by her son, Richard Elkin and his wife Barbara of Tinley Park, IL, and her sister, Carole Brock Janos of Miami, FL, and Felix Forjet, Sr. of Louisiana, plus a close circle of friends, family, nieces, and nephews.
