August "Gus" Gerard Trapani's Obituary
August Gerard “Gus” Trapani, Jr., a native of New Orleans and a resident of the Covington area for the past 72 years, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at the age of 92.
Quintessential husband, father, friend, historian, humorist, storyteller, character, and all around force to be reckoned with. He is sorely missed but will always be remembered with much love.
He is survived by his four daughters Joan T. Ibos (Emile); Theresa T. Jolissaint (Mark); Melissa T. Porretto (Lloyd); and Angela T. Luksch (Chris); one son, Tim Trapani; son-in-law Ki Hummel and daughter-in-law Margaret Berlin Trapani Soniat; 25 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by sons Charles “Chuck” Trapani, Sr. and Christopher Trapani; daughter Judy T. Hummel, and two brothers and two sisters. For 68 years he was the beloved husband of the late Pearl Eleanor Johnson Trapani. He is the son of the late Estelle Morlas Trapani and August Trapani, Sr.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial mass at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 20370 Smith Rd., Covington, LA 70435 on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Visitation, AT THE CHURCH, from 10:00 AM until service time. A reception will follow the services in the church hall.
The family offers a special thanks to St. Tammany Parish Hospital and Concerned Care Home Health for their benevolent care and especially to the loving staff of Village in the Oaks where he flourished and thoroughly enjoyed his life for the last three years.
