Audrey was a lifetime resident of Lakeview, New Orleans, LA, until Katrina, when she evacuated to Austin, TX, then relocated to Mandeville, LA.

Attended Lakeview School & immediately after graduation from Sophie B. Wright High School 1941 started her professional dancing career at Casino Royale & Nat D. Rogers Army Camp Shows at LA & MS military camps & bases (aka USO).
From 1941-1950 Classical Ballet/Acrobatic/Character professional dancer in hotels, theaters, & night clubs, professionally known as Audrey Burg in New Orleans, South, & Mexico, Audrey Palmer in NYC, USA, Canada, & Mexico, and “AZAR, Flaming Goddess of Love, Light, & Fire” in NYC & USA.
To prepare for her dance career Mr. Reggio had her perform at schools, festivals, churches, synagogues, small clubs, etc. At 14 yrs old, her 1st job was weekends at The Cadillac Club on St. Claude Ave. in N.O. While in high school she opened Audrey Mae Dance Studio Uptown off Claiborne Ave. Her big break in NYC came from a wrong phone number which led to her dancing on the 1st Coast to Coast TV ”Bonnie Maid Versatile Variety Show”, & AZAR’s picture in lights on Broadway was the prize for selection among TV Agencies to become the living, dancing model of the song title and to publicize the new recording of “Azar” on disc jockey programs. She twirled 2 capes while dancing ballet & acrobatics.
In 1955, having been married and returning to New Orleans, she taught Classical Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Acrobatics, Character, & Jazz at her Our Lady of Grace Dance Studio in Lakeview. She taught Ballet at Mt Carmel Academy, La Petite Ecole, & St. Pius School. Later she taught Classical Ballet Technique Classes at Blanchard Dance Education Center until Hurricane Katrina and danced at 80 yrs old in their 2005 recital. As a tourist she taught part of a ballet class at Children’s Palace in Shanghai, China.
As an active member of St Louis King of France Catholic Church in Bucktown, Metairie, LA from 1925-1951 and 1955-2005, she served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist at Mass & homes of the ill & was a Lector for 17 years. She was also Altar Society President for 2 years & Board Member for many years. She was Ludovicum KC Auxiliary Board Member and a member of Renew Group & Share The Word Leader for 15 years.
She taught dances for May/Fall Festivals at St. Louis King of France Catholic School, choreographed and danced in Knights of Columbus Variety Shows, and performed aboard a Princess Cruise Line ship on the Yangtze River in China.
She was President for 2 years & Board Member of New Orleans Club of the Reserve Officers Association League, where she danced at 80 years old in a recital.
After Hurricane Katrina, she joined Our Lady of The Lake Church, Mandeville, LA, where she served as Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at Mass & at homes of the ill. She also led Monday Bible Study and was Group Coordinator of a Pilgrim MTA – Shrine of Schoenstatt Rosary Crusade, & Auxiliary Member of Legion of Mary.
She was a member of Ozone Chapter Military Officers Association of America & Auxiliary, The New Orleans Club of the Reserve Officers Association League, Association of Naval Aviation, Naval Order of United States - New Orleans, American Legion Pontchartrain Post #288 Auxiliary, SLKF Ludovicum Council 4663 KC Ladies Auxiliary, and Our Lady of the Lake Altar Society,

She was preceded in death by her lifelong friends of over 90 years, Muriel MacHauer and Connie Negrotto.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 12:30 PM on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte Street, Mandeville, LA 70448 with visitation beginning at 10:30 AM until service time. Interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124.
