Col. Arthur R. Alberti's Obituary
ARTHUR R. ALBERTI, age 91, left this life on March 27, 2024, in Mandeville, LA. Arthur, affectionately known by friends and family as Al, was born on February 11, 1933, in New Orleans, LA, to Mamie Bachemin Alberti and Francis Alberti. After graduating from Warren Easton HS at age 17, he enlisted in the Louisiana Air National Guard where he served 43 years with tremendous dedication and commitment as Director of Human Resources at Alvin Callender Naval Air Station in Belle Chasse and then Directorate of Manpower Management at Jackson Barracks in Arabi. During those years of service, he held several positions at Jackson Barracks, including Curator of the Air Museum and President of SELAGO Federal Credit Union. Retiring as “Colonel A R Alberti” was one of his greatest honors. While serving with the Air Guard, he fulfilled his life-long dream to fly and became a licensed pilot. Al always considered this one of his greatest personal achievements. His hobbies included golf (he once scored a hole-in-one), watching professional football, attending festivals, and ballroom dancing. He also belonged to a group of Air Guard retirees, known as the 122nd Bomber Squadron Restoration Unit, who met weekly at Jackson Barracks to restore aircraft for the Barracks’ Air Museum. His work with this group gave him a great sense of accomplishment and camaraderie and he thoroughly enjoyed his weekly time with them.
Arthur was preceded in death by Therese Neyrey Alberti, his wife of 53 years; Ann Woods Alberti, his 2nd beloved bride; daughter Babette Nadine Alberti; and grandson Alexander Templeton Woods. Colonel Alberti is survived by his children Nanette Alberti-Stall (Mikal), Suzette Alberti, and Steven Alberti (Gina); grandchildren Mia Kathleen Fairchild, Jennifer Stall Lodge (Derrick), and Mikal Paul Stall; and great-grandchildren Tyler Lodge, Riley Lodge, and William Lodge.
