Anthony P. Oramous Sr.'s Obituary
Anthony "Tony" Oramous Sr. passed away peacefully at his home in Mandeville where he has resided for the past 47 years on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the age of 84. He was born January 3, 1934 in Covington, LA and moved to New Orleans at an early age. He returned to St. Tammany Parish in 1971 and spent many years serving the youth of the community as a commissioner and board member of 4th ward recreation and Pelican Park. Upon his retirement from these positions he was named Member Emeritus. He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Marine Corps and upon his release from service began his career with AT&T until his retirement in 1988.
He was the son of Manuel and Edna Wilde Oramous. He was also the loving husband of the late Mary Ellen "Mel" Oramous. He is survived by his children Tony Jr. (Erin), Allen, Mike, Lynn Coyne, and Chris (Mandy), his grandchildren Kelli Donaldson (Joey), Andrew Oramous, Elizabeth Coyne, Brandon Oramous, Jacob Coyne, and Victoria Coyne. Also, his great grandchildren Bryce Donaldson and Jax Anthony Donaldson. He was the brother of Cynthia Perez and is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Freddy, Manuel, Bernice McConnell, Yvonne Carrigee, Sylvia Bouterie, Diane Barnes, Johnny, and Richie. Tony is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and dear friends.
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte Street in Mandeville, on October 6, 2018 at 12:00 pm with visitation starting at 11:00 am.
