Anne Fry Verzwyvelt's Obituary
Annie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, fiance, and friend. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 25 years, Gary Paul Verzwyvelt, her parents, Cora Juanita “Jane” Gallardo Fry, John Ronald “Jack” Fry and her brother, Thomas Richard Fry. She is survived by her three children, Kate Verzwyvelt Messer (David), John Paul Verzwyvelt, Eric Verzwyvelt and her adored granddaughter, Lily Anne Messer. She is also survived by her three siblings, Jack Fry, Chris Fry, Jane “Puddy” Robinson and their families.
Annie was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on April 3, 1963. She graduated from Denham Springs High School and received her BA in Education from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1985. She went on to earn her Master's degree in Education while in Michigan. Above all else, her favorite role in this life was mothering Kate, John Paul and Eric. Annie and Gary created a loving home to instill in their children what they would need to become, and always be, loving, kind, and Christ-centered individuals. Annie touched countless students' lives in her teaching career in both Michigan and Louisiana. She was blessed to have a second chance at love after the death of Gary. Kevin Caswell, her fiancé, blessed her with nine years of deep enduring love while creating incredible memories.
Annie loved spending time with her beautiful family and her wonderful friends. One of her greatest joys was the enduring friendships she fostered throughout her life. Annie was an active member of St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in Slidell, Louisiana. She allowed her faith to lead every aspect of her life, particularly her battle with leukemia. Annie was beloved by many and will be deeply missed by all the lives she touched and transformed with her loving presence.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 910 Cross Gates Boulevard, Slidell, Louisiana on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 1:00 PM with visitation from 11:30 AM until Mass time. Interment will follow Mass at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery, 75376 River Rd., St. Benedict, LA 70435.
