Ann Kenamond McPhail's Obituary
Ann Kenamond McPhail passed away peacefully on Monday, March 4th at 11:45p.m. at Peristyle Memory Care in Mandeville, LA. She was born on September 26, 1937 in Martinsburg, WV to the late Dr. Frederick Dill Kenamond and Jane Peery Kenamond.
Ann was the beloved wife of Boyd Leland McPhail for 45years. She was the loving mother of Catherine Ann Eustice (David), Dr. Kenneth Allen Shaw, Frederick Peery Shaw(Donna), Janie McPhail van Deventer (Paul) and Joshua Alan McPhail. Ann was the proud grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She is survived by her two sisters, Caroline Kenamond Grubbs(Don) and MaryDayne Kenamond Gregg (Wally).
Ann grew up in Jackson, MS and graduated from Central High School in 1956. In Jackson, she was in property management and real estate sales. She and Boyd married and moved to Metairie, LA in 1979. Ann was active in the New Orleans Opera Guild and the New Orleans Newcomers Club, a club of 250 women, where she served as President in 1982. During that time, she also served on the board of Raintree House in New Orleans. In 1985, she began a new career with Delta Air Lines. She retired in 1997 after being a marketing executive responsible for all Western U.S. group sales with Delta.
She and Boyd moved to the Mandeville Lakefront in 1999 where she was Vice President and Secretary of the McPhail Company, LLC, an insurance brokerage firm in Mandeville.
She was a member of St. Timothy on the Northshore. Ann was one of the founding members of the New Heights Garden Party, a fundraising event supporting New Heights Therapy Center in Folsom, LA.
Ann’s love of animals was passionate and was passed on to all of her children and grandchildren. She treasured the time she spent with all of her family.
Due to the nature of their business, Ann and Boyd were able to travel extensively and made lifelong friends and memories together.
The family would like to express our gratitude to the caring staff and nurses at Peristyle Memory Care, the Oncology floor of St. Tammany Hospital and Enhabit Hospice Care.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Memorial Service at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, March 16th at 11:30 with visitation for family at 10:00a.m. and general visitation at 10:30a.m. Interment will take place privately at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, Covington, LA.
