Ann Virginia Montgomery LaPlante's Obituary
Ann Virginia Montgomery LaPlante passed away peacefully on March 20, 2023, at the age of 91. Ann was born in New Orleans on February 23rd, 1932 to Anita and Arthur Montgomery.
Ann is survived by her children, Barbara Chauvin (Ron), James LaPlante (Tammy), Joe LaPlante, Bill LaPlante (Eileen), Bobby LaPlante (Patsy), Larry LaPlante, Ann Doescher (Mark) Tim LaPlante (Liz) and Betty Romero (Mike), 38 Grandchildren and 49 Great-Grandchildren.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John LaPlante and her son John LaPlante, Jr (Merrill) and grandsons James LaPlante, Jr and Andy LaPlante.
A native of the Irish Channel, and proud resident of Mandeville for over 63 years, Ann graduated from Redemptorist High School in 1950.
Ann was loving, compassionate, and most of all a very caring person to all. But she enjoyed most being a caregiver to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren. During holidays or celebrations, she could be found surrounded by family, chasing after little ones and making sure everyone had enough to eat. She made sure there was always ice cream in the freezer and cookies in the cabinet because you never knew when the children may pass by.
Ann was equally dedicated to the Catholic Church and the mission to care for the elderly and infirm. She was a lay minister who brought communion to those in nursing homes, and was an active volunteer delivering meals to the elderly for over 20 years.
The LaPlante, Chauvin, Doescher and Romero families expresses their deepest gratitude to the outstanding care provided by St Tammany Hospice.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 12:00 PM and the visitation beginning at 10am until service time. Interment will take place following the service at Mandeville Cemetery.
