Anita Simmons Meiners' Obituary
Anita Simmons Meiners passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024. She was born in Madisonville, LA on August 11, 1944.
She is survived by her loving children, Tina Williams, (Freddie), Stephanie Phelps, Shelly Meiners, (Jennifer); her grandchildren Brittany, Stephen, Samantha, Christina, Devin and Dylan; and great-grandchildren Bayleigh and Brinley. She is also survived by her brothers, Russell L. Simmons, Sr.and Wallace L. Simmons, Jr. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends that she dearly loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Meiners; her parents Dorothea Russell Simmons and Wallace Leonard Simons, Sr.; and sister Dorothea Simmons Bennett.
She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church. She loved singing in the choir and going on trips with Young at Heart. She was happiest when surrounded by family and friends especially if that happened to be on a cruise ship.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Meiners may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Donations can be made online or by calling (800)213-6584.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington LA 70433. There will be a wake on Monday evening, November 18th, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and a visitation on Tuesday, November 19th, 2024 beginning at 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
