Angie Barker Blackwell's Obituary
Angie Barker Blackwell passed away peacefully at her home in Covington on Saturday, June 17, 2017. A native and life resident of St. Tammany Parish, she was born in Folsom on December 8, 1925 to Hazel Core and Horace M. Barker.
The beloved wife of the late Woodrow "Chink" Blackwell, she is survived by sisters-in-law - SeWilla Barker (Bill) and Estelle “Dolly” Quave Barker (Harry); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters - Lillie Bell Thompson and Norma Maklary; and three brothers - Stanley, Harry and William "Bill" Barker.
Angie was a faithful servant of the Lord. She served her church cheerfully and when needed, never turned down a request for help. She served her community with the same enthusiasm and worked for many years, retiring from South Central Bell in 1986.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Shepherd's Care Ministries, 20115 Hwy 1081 Covington, LA 70435.
Visiting hours at the church on Wednesday will begin at 12:00 Noon.
Interment at the Blackwell Cemetery in Folsom, LA will immediately follow services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shepherd's Care Ministries at the above address.
