Andrew Dale Shelton's Obituary
Andrew Dale Shelton went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 28, 2014. He was born in Covington, LA on December 11, 1961 to Patricia Cross and L.B. “Larry” Shelton and was a resident of Port Vincent, LA for the past 10 years.
Dale was a Godly man who devoted his life to loving his family, friends and all who crossed his path. A graduate of Covington High School’s Class of 1979, he received degrees from SELU in Hammond and Xavier University in New Orleans. Throughout his career he worked for Plaquemine Police Department, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, was a nurse in the ICU at Baton Rouge General and a CRNA for the Anesthesiology Group. He served his Country as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army 159th Mash Unit. He deployed for Operation Desert Storm in 1991, the day his wife gave birth to his first child.
He was disabled in 2003 and cherished the time he was able to spend with his family and doing God’s work. He was ordained Deacon and member of Walker Baptist Church. He was a perpetual member of the Masonic Lodge, Denham Springs. He loved hunting, fishing, traveling, working with the church youth group and going on mission trips. Most of all he loved God. He allowed many young people to pass through his home over the years and he tried to be a Godly role model and treated them all as if they were his own.
The beloved husband of Terry Mendoza Shelton, he is survived by two children – Joshua M. Shelton and Casey E. Shelton; his mother – Patricia Cross Shelton; mother-in-law – Bertha Mendoza; sister-in-law - Maxine Mendoza Clem; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents – Josephine Angelo and L.B. “Red” Shelton, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Cardwell Barr and Andrew Jackson Cross; his father – L.B. “Larry” Shelton, Jr. and his brother – Lawrence “Benjie” Shelton III. His infectious smile and laugh will truly be missed by all those who crossed his path.
