Amelie was a childhood playmate and McGehee '52 classmate of my sister, Marjory Lyman. Although they were ten years older than me, I remember Amelie well back then and again, more recently. She lived in a big white house on State St. with a very interesting alcove in the front, near the Presbyterian Church. She played at our house down the street and had very gentle manner and smiling face with a darling slight lisp. She showed no signs of a redheaded temperament. I thought she was beautiful in spirit and in appearance.
I'm sure we have photos of her, and maybe even 8 mm film of her as a young teen in a tap costume for shows they did on a makeshift stage in our backyard. I was very impressed with these glamorous teenagers!
Her beautiful obituary is written as if her children and grandchildren have inherited some of her grace.
May she rest in peace.
