Alvin Edward "Ed" Soniat Jr.'s Obituary
Alvin Edward “Ed” Soniat, Jr., age 94, of Covington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, with his wife and family by his side. He was born on May 22, 1930, in El Paso, Texas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Marilyn Rose Theresa Soniat; sister-in-law, Beverly Russell; brother-in-law, Kenneth Eckert; and nine nieces and nephews and their families living in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas. He is also survived by many other extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Edward Soniat, Sr. and Mildred Vermillion Soniat.
Ed grew up in El Paso, Texas, the only child of Alvin and Mildred Soniat. He attended Rice University and Baylor University, receiving his degree in aeronautics engineering. He enjoyed a long career as a mechanical engineer with Lockheed Martin in Texas.
Ed enjoyed traveling, reading, music, snow skiing, flying planes, sailing and the stock market. His loves were Marilyn, family, food, animals, and cars. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 2:00 PM at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
